Established in 1991 and recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park covers approximately 331 square kilometres of ancient montane rainforest along Uganda’s southwestern border. The park protects one of the richest ecosystems in East Africa and serves as a sanctuary for almost half of the world’s endangered mountain gorilla population.

Beyond its famous gorillas, Bwindi is home to more than 120 mammal species, over 350 bird species, numerous primates, colourful butterflies, reptiles, amphibians, and thousands of plant species, many of which are found nowhere else. Its steep valleys, misty hills, and dense vegetation create an unforgettable landscape that attracts travellers from around the world.
